Colour Me Pretty Boutique is a Women’s Clothing Boutique that was founded by CEO Julie Fudge in February 2015 as a Home Based Business. After two pregnancies (for her beautiful daughters Sophia & Kaylee), Julie began to feel uncomfortable in her own skin. As a result of weight gain and the typical body changes that one experiences while pregnant, she began feeling “trapped”. The business of being a new mom, compiled with societal pressures to “look pretty”, began to weigh heavy on her self worth. She began to feel frustrated and often resorted to the “messy mom look” to feel comfortable.
One day, in a tiny, innocent voice, her oldest daughter Sophia looked at her and said, “Mom, you are so pretty”. WOW! She began to realize that although she was consumed with her “looks”, her “weight”, her “imperfections”, her children viewed her in a different light. It was a very empowering moment, and led to the birth of “Colour Me Pretty”.
Julie began to shift her focus onto “Self Love”, “Self Empowerment” and “Self Respect” in efforts to set an example for her beautiful children who were watching her intently. She realized that in order to “look beautiful”, one must “feel beautiful”. The journey thus begun to find clothing that was comfortable, trendy, yet also affordable. In a small 10x10 room in her home, Julie set out to make a difference. After nearly a year and a half based out of Julie’s home, Colour Me Pretty Boutique moved to it’s first brick and mortar location in Fort McMurray, AB.
Women, like Julie, often struggle with “body positivity” and feeling “pretty” so CMP’s main goal is to transform their focus on outward beauty into the perception that beauty comes from within.
