Julie Fudge-Owner
I moved to Fort McMurray 12 years ago with my husband for a “better” opportunity. I worked as a Registered Nurse for 9 years and so opening Colour Me Pretty Boutique was not my “life plan” by a long stretch.
I grew up in a small town in Newfoundland, graduated from high school and went to Nursing School to pursue a career I knew would provide employment, Nursing. I finished the Bachelor
of Nursing Program in 2006, married my wonderful husband and after only 7 months of Nursing in Newfoundland, and my husband facing prolonged unemployment, we had to make a change. We decided to move to Fort McMurray. After 2 ½ years I gave birth to my firstborn daughter, Sophia. She changed my world. I felt a love like no other! I returned to work, and 4 years later gave birth to my youngest daughter, Kaylee.
It was after giving birth to Kaylee that I started having reservations about returning to work outside the home. Selling clothing sort of “fell” into my lap shortly into the first year of being at home, and quickly I began to realize that my love for meeting others, and interacting with the ladies of YMM was a real thing.
In February of 2015 I officially launched Colour Me Pretty Boutique in my home. Again, with no idea of what it would become, I slowly began to participate in markets and trade shows around the city.
Through conversations with the women of YMM, I began to realize that we all struggle with the same insecurities and pressures to “look” and “act” a certain way. I realized that there was a greater need to shift the focus on outer beauty into a perception that beauty comes from within.
I began to develop a passion for providing local women with clothing that was trendy, comfortable and affordable in an effort to encourage them that you can be any shape or size and still look and feel beautiful.
My dreams grew bigger, and after only 2 years of having Colour Me Boutique as a home-based business, and with the love and support from my husband, I opened doors to our local boutique.
In the past 12 months of being in our new storefront location, business has grown exponentially, and Colour Me Pretty Boutique has evolved into a business that not only provides women with beautiful clothing and accessories, but also works diligently at providing women with an experience while shopping.
With the help of my wonderful team, I have been able to fulfill a dream I didn’t even realize I would have and a vision that was placed in my heart unexpectedly.
I thank God for giving me this dream, for opening the doors, allowing me to walk through them and giving me complete peace while doing so.
“ Blessed is she who believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her” – Luke 1:45.
Much Love,
Julie

I have lived in Fort McMurray for 20 years, and call it home with my husband, two girls and two pups. I adore people, music and fashion. What better way to put those passions to good use than working at a boutique that allows me to give back to the community I love.
As the boutique stylist, I love being able to be a part of the creative process for clothes, outfits, events, and the boutique in general. We have a dream team whom I love and appreciate so much, it makes working at CMP an absolute pleasure.
My vision for the boutique is to continue bringing in trendy, comfortable, affordable styles for all ages and sizes for MANY years to come. To create an atmosphere where women can look at items of clothing and be encouraged that they are not excluded because they are a different shape or size. I love hearing the phrase, “ I would never have thought to put that together.” I always feel so accomplished when someone leaves feeling inspired with their purchase.
This job started out on a volunteer basis for the campaign and has turned into something so much more, and I’m truly thankful. I’m looking forward to where this road leads us, I have a feeling this is just the beginning of something extraordinary.
