Through conversations with my loyal, local customers, I began to see a common denominator in all the women – their lack of self confidence in their own beauty. Many of my customers focused on their imperfections when standing in front of the mirror, which is so customary in society today. I began to feel compelled, and made it my mission to ensure that every customer felt worthy, beautiful, and unique.
I began to collaborate with my team to discuss the logistics of starting a campaign to celebrate local women for all the characteristics that make them unique and beautiful.
My initial intention was to bless others, however, the campaign has turned into so much more than a blessing to others. It has become a journey for myself and staff also. We have met so many beautiful and incredible women who have also been the greatest blessing to us.
There is something very powerful and uplifting when joining together with women, celebrating all things beautiful.
My team and I look forward to meeting each and every one of you!
You are special, you are beautiful and you are loved!
As a stylist for the campaign, I get to work with some of the most amazing and inspirational women of Fort McMurray. Choosing outfits for people that compliment them is easy for me, and I enjoy helping them feel confident in their choices for their photoshoot. Most importantly, I desire to show every woman that walks through our doors that self love directly impacts their confidence. If you don’t love yourself, it really doesn’t matter what you wear, you’ll never feel truly confident in your choices. So, the foundation of each stylist appointment is a genuine confidence building effort, focusing on that person’s unique qualities and gifts. It takes more than a mirror to help you discover your self worth, and we love helping to unveil these truths for these women. My goal is that our encouragement goes far beyond our walls, we hope that through one encounter at a time, we will see a positive impact in our nominees. I look forward to watching the ripple effect of a healthy self esteem passed on to the next generation.

To begin I would like to just like to thank Julie for what I believe has been the most amazing opportunity. This campaign has been such a blessing to so many amazing women including us ladies behind the scenes.
I grew up in a small town in Newfoundland where your neighbours were family and you did for everyone without expecting anything in return. Kindness, compassion, and love for others was always just “there”, you didn’t need to be reminded, it truly was a “feel good” thing when you were able to help someone in what could be the smallest or biggest of ways.
I settled here in Fort McMurray, married my wonderful husband and had two beautiful children.
To me, the most important thing to show my children is how to have empathy and compassion for others and this opportunity Julie has given me is just another teachable moment in this gift we call life. It has been a way for them to see how making others feel good about themselves and taking time to listen and laugh with complete strangers not only helps that person but in turn makes your heart whole.
I have worked with Alberta Health Services for close to 12 years. My role there involves a great deal of compassion, advocating, and being present to help support children and families. So when Julie invited me to become part of this incredible team I felt like I had to jump on board. No matter how busy life has gotten or how many things need to be taken care of it is so important to just pause and put someone before yourself and truly give yourself to them in that moment.
Many people have said to me, “You don’t need makeup to feel beautiful.” I agree 100% beauty is not about clothes, makeup, or hair. Beauty is about what makes us each feel wonderful! For some people it’s the things we participate in, for others its taking time out for self care. Feeling rested, feeling whole!
In this campaign, we are hair, makeup and even photos to remind them that all of their inner beauty radiates outward. We are listening to their likes and dislikes and spoiling them so they feel absolutely beautiful both inside and out. Real beauty is simply how we see our best selves!
I have grown so much as a person and have made so many wonderful new friendships through this campaign- I will forever be grateful.
I am a hairstylist at Chatters Salon, and love what I do! Being a hairdresser is about growing relationships with clients by listening and catering to their needs, being sincere, and truly caring about them. Its about using art and talent to achieve a look that not only provides someone with outer beauty, but also helps promote inner confidence to help them achieve their goals while helping you reach yours.
I joined the campaign in September to style hair for the “Pretty of the Month” for their photoshoot and I love being a part of a team that if working to influence change in the community.
